Got a growler of this at my local Heinen's earlier today. Poured into a tulip glass, this beer draws a very dark copper/amber color with a slightly off-white had that’s about an inch thick on first drawn and served. Head eventually settles to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass with some nice spots of surface foam. Not much lacing though. Aromas of some toasted, bready malts, notes barnyard funk and some yeasty esters, a bit of cherry, and some oak. A very similar flavor profile, with a toasted, bready malt presence with a hint of brown sugar sweetness followed by sour, barnyard funk notes and some yeastiness along with the aforementioned cherry that provides some dry tartness and a nice oak presence. This beer has an overall fairly complex flavor profile that I’m enjoying quite a bit. Has a somewhat crisp, also smooth, just slightly prickly, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a nice, long finish and all the different flavors linger nicely on my palate for a long time after each sip. A very nice take on this style.
