473 ml can served cold into a chalice. Durand purchase. Contains unfermented fruit.
Appearance - Thick and chunky brew with puree. Ruddy and thick purple-ish color with some maroon and brown thrown in. Plenty of little bits of sediment. Giant thick and sticky bubbles at the top. The only beer I've seen that did this on top was an imperial peanut butter stout. That being said that brew is a top 10 of all-time beer. The head forms and stays for a long while.
Smell - Raspberry and sweet cherry definitely come through on the nose. Very intense fruitiness.
Taste - Tart with the raspberry, then balance with sweet cherry. Fruit overload and it is delicious. Tastes like freshly squeezed juice. Not picking up any chocolate other than a touch in the aftertaste, like these berries have been just kissed with chocolate.
Mouthfeel - Thick and chunky, not light and clean like a Berliner, this is more slushie with puree than anything else. That being said the feel does work with the flavor. I'm not opposed to the texture, it's just not really a Berliner - or anything else for that matter.
Overall - An interesting and rather tasty and intense semi-sour beer. I wish the chocolate came through a little more to provide an ever so slightly sweeter close, but whatever you want to classify this beer as, it tastes really good.
