I put this as a black and tan because it is a cask-conditioned blend of the Woodenhead amber ale and the Black River Stout, but in some ways is arguably like a traditional porter blend.
Anyway, on cask, this is a very good, light, gentle, but flavourful and well-rounded beer.
Black, it has a lasting, creamy small tan head that shrinks very slowly and leaves some good lace.
Aroma is gentle but firm molasses hint with winey prunes and hint of toastiness.
Taste is nicely balanced with toastiness, light roastiness, light coffee, a little earth, strongly caramelly dark toast, great balance. It has light fruitiness. It has faint complexity and is highly drinkable.
