Slightly hazed gold with a tinge of orange and not much head to speak of. This is apparently a new version of the yuzu-Sorachi ace beer brewed by Marble a few years ago, and it is similarly underwhelming/disappointing/infuriating. The nose is big on Sorachi ace, in all its weird coconut, limoncello, orange oil and smashed dill glory (which I like), with basically no yuzu to speak of. It's not bad but it absolutely does not deliver the desired yuzu effect. Fail. The flavour is balanced but boring and vaguely boozy – it reminds me a lot of Cointreau, somehow. Sorachi ace is a great aroma hop but shit for bittering and this beer would definitely benefit from a snappier, sharper hop finish (or more carbonation). As it is, it's just kind of blah. This is a well-made, technically faultless, terrible beer. I wish I'd known it was a re-hash of Marble's equally bad beer before I bought it... so I wouldn't have bought it.
