Pours a hazy, opaque, deep orange coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smells of biscuity malt and quite bright and juicy citrus and tropical hops, with notes of orange and passion fruit, as well as just a hint of grassy dankness. Taste is an excellent balance of only slightly sweet'ish, biscuity malt and quite juicy, vibrant citrus and tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit, orange, passion fruit, mango and just a hint of grassy, herbal dankness. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some dank citrus and tropical notes lingering in the aftertaste. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I always like to judge a new-to-me brewery by their TIPA, which is a style that can be difficult to pull off without becoming overly malty, sweet and boozy. Pomona Island have certainly done a wonderful job here, creating an incredibly rich and juicy TIPA without even a hint of sticky sweetness, overripe notes or booze, while also displaying an excellent balance of zesty citrus, sweet and tangy tropical and dank and bitter notes. One of the best TIPAs I've had, without a doubt.
