750 ml crowler
Pours clear deep brown, red tinge, with a yellowish white head that is thick and slowly dissipates to a lacing.
Aroma of biscuit, some grassy and fruity malts, and some funky bretty yeast notes.
Flavor is of biscuit, light grape and lemongrass, maybe some caramel, with some bretty undertones and dry hop finish.
Full body, tingly carbonation on the tongue.
This is marketed as a dubbel, but it tastes more like a Belgian pale except it's dark. It does have a clear Belgian influence which I always find impressive from American breweries. It feels like a real Belgian, not just a big malty beer. The hop addition is a distinctly American twist and adds a nice balance to what is usually a very malty style. Overall its a very enjoyable drink with some legitimate Belgian-like characteristics but also kind of it's own thing. Good sipping beer for a cool night and definitely worth trying.
