I've only poked my nose in this place a couple of times, as it's not exactly in my neighborhood. But the beer is very good, and the staff are uber-friendly/-helpful.
Like is the case with many nano-breweries these days, the taproom is in an old, reclaimed brick & mortar space, with wooden tables and furniture (but it fits in, in a waterfront town that dates back to before the American Revolution -- take the TV's off the wall, and I can imagine a similar scene in a tavern 2+ centuries ago).
Even an out-of-towner like me feels welcome every time I step through the door, with locals smiling and tipping their heads slightly to this stranger stepping into their midst.
The food is almost non-existent, and no food truck could fit into the narrow alleyway that leads to Ghost Harbor's entrance; but they don't frown upon bringing in outside food from neighboring restaurants, so it's not a big deal.
I know most Beer Advocate members will never make it to Elizabeth City, but for those who do, I strongly encourage you to visit Ghost Harbor Brewing Company.
