i wanted to like this a lot more than i did, they call it a czech pils type base, but im not sure what this would be like without the peppers, its cheesy and weird, not a good job with the lagering at all, tastes way off to me, not at all recognizable as a pils, which is a shame, because the pepper part is real, the beer overall is light and spicy, i now lust for it to be crisp and clean and better, peppers like this in a good lager would be money, but the base beer is defective. aroma and flavor of grated cheese, really kind of gross in here, its from the fermentation, but i will focus on the good. there is a perfect heat level, warm in the throat but without much linger, natural jalapeno flavor without being a fire breather at all, and there is that greenness and almost snappiness of the real pepper, nicely done there. this is not carbonated enough, but even if it was, the weird cheesy and sweaty character kind of kills it for me before it ever even gets started. a shame, because its a great idea and the pepper element is nicely executed. maybe this changes from batch to batch, but what was on when i was in was objectively quite poor as a lager unfortunately.
