Picked up in a Vladivostok supermarket, the bottle is standard brown half liter, with a brown, red and white label featuring the seal of the USSR. The first part of the name means "Born in the USSR," and appears to be a series of brews. This one is the "double golden." The back label claims the beer is brewed from the waters of Lake Baikal. Other ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 4/2/05, I opened it on 3/31/05.

Pours a clear standard gold under a very thin 1/3 finger head that disappears in no time. The nose is grassy and sweet. The mouth is mildly carbonated and slightly heavy in the tongue and jowls. The taste is typical provincial Russian - heavy sweet malt tastes a bit like bad watermelon, broken up by mild metallic hops. The aftertaste is a touch sour, but mainly sweetened by overripe fruit. Not real good.
