Tasted at Cult Classic, favorable and took a Crowler home.
Pours a rich creamy light tan meringue like head which quickly dissipates. Maintains a ring and decent lacing. Dark mahogany brown with full ruby highlights when held to light.
Nose is old/strong ale with toasty malt and biscuit. Hints of molasses and dried fruit.
Taste mirrors nose but malt is much bigger and roastier. A bit of burnt candy and a little banana sweetness clings to the molasses. Some distracting bitterness but maybe from the roast. Really not any distinguishable hop profile. Pleasant overall.
Has decent body and feel, and very drinkable. Soft slightly bright carbonation. Refreshing not tongue burning. ABV well hidden.
Overall a better than average winter warmer that suggests Cult Classic can grow/succeed in the deep end of bigger beers.
