Notes about the brew:
The Blackberry'On is inspired by two of our amazing taproom staff who both hail from the land down-under. And who coincidentally, are both named Ryan, but more often than not confused as Ron. They have been keeping us well educated in Aussie slang and it just so happens that "saving one for Ron" (later'on) means having one later on, which is exactly what we plan to do when we get our hands on a cold can of this limited release.
This NEIPA has heaps of Australian hops, with bold tropical aromas. The blackberry addition not only gives this small batch brew a beauty purple hue but adds a slight sweetness, and a lightly tart finish.
Appearance - Pours a ruby red grapefruit with two fingers of foamy blush head.
Smell - citrus and tropical hops, freshly picked blackberries, citrus and orange peel, pineapple, guava, passion fruit, mango, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - bold citrus and tropical hops upfront then quickly goes into the citrus and orange, pineapple, guava, passion fruit, mango, and fresh blackberries. The bready malts and earthy yeast finish off the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. FInishes sticky with the hops, fruits, and tart blackberry lingering.
Overall - A bold and unique NEIPA that showcases the traditional NEIPA elements and adds another element to the equation like a tart blackberry and makes it truly flavourful. This one is a definite must try if you stumble across it. Born Colorado is stepping up their game as of late.
