The controversial pumpkin ale - I would note I do like some pumpkin beers. This was not my favourite….
Pours a clear copper tinged dark amber with a finger of fine foamy slightly tawny coloured head.
My wife, correctly, suggested her initial impression of the aroma was mouthwash - I got a bit of a chemical/metallic smell - so same. This passed giving a nose of pumpkin pie spices with a bit of a vegetal note - cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove (and perhaps a bit more clove - I personally omit clove from my pumpkin pie recipe).
Slightly sweet up front with cereal malt, a bit vegetal on the palate but on swallow a big hit of pumpkin pie spice - a bit of cinnamon but a lot of clove - the clove sits at the back giving a spicy bitterness - a touch of a burn.
Medium mouthfeel with bright carbonation and a lingering clove spiciness.
Did not hate this but the clove not my thing. Second can became beer bread.
