Appearance - served on tap, the beer poured a copper red color with a white head reaching toward the top of the glass.
Smell - The Vienna malts were evident in the nose. A little hop bitterness was also detected.
Taste - The distinct nature of the Vienna malts was allowed to shine. It was dry and oaky with a measured level of hop bitterness. A little sweetness came with the backbone, before a dry finish.
Mouthfeel - The carbonation was appropriate for the style, working in tandem with the lager’s body.
Overall - Vienna Lagers are not a popular style, but are spectacular when done well. This one is well done. It paired nicely with bbq.
