Very large and dense head. It recedes in a lumpy fashion leaving several chunky spots in its wake. The liquid is deep dark amber/light brown. It appears to be clear.
Malty aroma but not very sweet. There's a faint alcohol smell. No notable Belgian yeast smells.
The flavor is dryer and less boozy than its Belgian cousin. No Belgian yeast bite either. Full bodied but without any syrupy feel. Decent carbonation. Malt dominates as expected but there is a touch of hop bitterness in the swallow creating a more balanced but short aftertaste.
