Poured from a can into a tulip glass
Appearance – the beer pours a super hazy orange-pineapple yellow like color with a huge billowy head of white foam. The head has a super intense retention, fading slowly over time and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – the aroma is rather strong of a oat and bready aroma mixed with a decent showing of raw hops and a decent hit of grapefruit and herbal notes. Along with these comes the sweeter smells with aromas of orange, pineapple, and papaya, mixed with other smells of vanilla and some crème. Sorta smells like a tropical fruit creamsicle with a nice green hop hit.
Taste – the taste begins with an oatbread and malty flavor paired with a decent showing of the raw hops that were in the nose, adding a nice ‘green’ like flavor. The hops have a strong herbal flavor associated with the, with a lighter grapefruit hop tailing along. At the same time, there are other sweeter tastes upfront, with the vanilla, orange, pineapple, and papaya that were in the nose. As the taste advances the hops seem to subdue a bit, al while the vanilla and orange increase. Creamy flavors and more oatmeal come to the tongue later one, and with a touch of lemon rounding out the taste, one is left with a more malty, still rather raw hopped, creamsicle like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is quite thick and smooth with a very light carbonation level.
Overall – While big on malt and raw hop flavor, the brew is surprisingly easy to drink. It sorta has tropical vibes going on. Pretty good overall.
