Comes in a standard brown half liter bottle with a colorful label featuring a guy dressed like Robin Hood downing a big mug of beer. Best before date was 9/13/03, I opened it on 8/3/03. Rice and sugar listed as ingredients. The word "gonyets" means messanger. "Yantarnoye" means amber. The back label tells the story of a successful messenger who delivered news about a battle in 1380. The story ends with the statement: "Messenger - always good news." Yeah, right.

Pours a much too pale hue for an "amber" beer. The head is firm and white, but doesn't linger and leaves no lace or collar. The nose is mildly malty, while the mouth is tingly but even. The taste is very mild, with nothing either nice or objectionable. There's a bit of malt, but very, very little hop noticeable. On the other hand, it is neither sweet nor ricey, despite the ingredients. I finished it, which is more than I expected.
