I reviewed this blind from @Harrison8 during NBS BIF#11.
Medium chestnut brown with big wet bubbles culminating in a decent swell of offwhite head that dissipates but not completely leaving a wonderful record of foam long gone along the glass and several tufts of chunky drifts along the top of the liquid.

Nose is initially nutty and sweet with caramely and decoction-reminiscient malt presence. This calms down a bit to leave a grainy underbelly with some light roast that is faint and could be my imagination.

Flavour starts off with toasty malts bordering on char. Toasty and bitter and dry. The dryness leads to an impression of thinness carrying through the second half that's a little disappointing. There's some spicy bitterness and teh final swell after the super thin second half is just a faint impression of spicy noble hops. I dig it but wish it had a little bit more structure to carry through. I don't get any of the sweet caramel or other stuff I describe in the first half of hte aroma.

Overall it's dry and thin with effervescent carbonation that's actually quite nice and helps play up the spicy hops and give it something during that bit where it just kind of disappears.

On tap. Poured a clear, golden brown color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It smelled of coffee, roasted malt and caramel. Sweet caramel and toffee with a roasted coffee finish.

12oz minicrowler? hand dated 12/12 & 3.8% ABV on label poured into a nonic pint glass at fridge temp. The beer pours bright medium brown in color with ruby and chestnut highlights. The head is a milky tan and recedes to a film and thin ring. Minimal lacing. The aroma is appropriately mild revealing pale and toasted malt and cocoa. The taste is more cocoa with subtle smokey undertones and earthy hops. The bitterness is low, but complementary of the malt. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with just less than medium carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good. Thanks to @Harrison8 for the chance to try this.

Thanks to Harrison8 for this one. 12oz can poured into 14oz teku. poured a solidly opaque dark brown with just a thin cap of tan head that low retention and very light lace.

The aroma featured nice, earthy malts, a hint of roast, and just a touch of floral hops. Same on the tongue, with the roast lingering a bit at the back.

The body was light and smooth, with a semi-sweet finish. Drinkability was very good, you could easily stay interested enough to have a nice session with these. Overall, a very nice brew. Worth trying if you see it.

Thanks to Harrison8 for sending me a crowler of this one!

What a gorgeous color- crystal clear walnut brown with red highlights. And even more pleasing is that it's the real deal. Such full flavored dark toasted bread-like malt for the gravity, woven perfectly with toffee, caramel (although you have to imagine what dark caramel would taste like without the sweetness), baked apple, earthy hops, and a dusting of cocoa powder. It's dry as a bone, yet miraculously doesn't come off at all as being overattenuated. Mouthfeel is milky smooth, and the bitterness is just sufficient enough to kick off a long toasty finish. It's delicious, and amazingly easy drinking; I'd love to spend an afternoon with it.

Pours a dark brown with a hazy, foggy transparency. It only allows light through the edges of the glass. Head is a finger in height and khaki in color with very little retention. Aroma is pale, bitter, biscuit, bready and caramel malt notes. It's all malt within this thin, mild aroma. Flavor profile is biscuit, bready, caramel, pale, and bitter malt notes with a soft toffee finish. It drinks splendidly smooth, and is for lack of a better phrase "all beer, no frills". Mouth feel is medium-thin with a fairly still, smooth texture. Overall, a splendid English Dark Mild ale, which is to say - a straightforward, malt, light beer. It's plenty drinkable due to its flavor composition, with drink-ability further enhanced by its 3.9% ABV.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can. Canned 10/23.
