Pours black with a finger of khaki foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is roasty, toasty, nutty, earthy and caramely malts. Very light sugary, molasses, toffee notes between the malts to add a little subtle complexity. Flavor profile is roasty, toasty, earthy, nutty, bready, caramely malts. Big malt notes create the bulk of the experience, with whiffs and glimpses of toffee, molasses and caramel adding sweetness. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a silty, consistently grainy texture. Overall, great balance in a straightforward stout. No bullshit additive flavors - straightforward and clean.

12oz crowler can. Fill date is '4/8/19'. Obtained in a trade with Harrison8.
Black colored body, with garnet back lit highlights. One finger of light tan head, which stays around as a thin cap and ring. Most of the following lacing slides back into the body but there is a scattered spot pattern of lacing on the glass.
Aroma is dark roasted malts and a little note of chocolate.
Taste of dark roasted malts, pure and true. Smoky, woody, chocolate, coffee notes.
Medium mouth feel, with smooth texture. Very good carbonation.
This is a straight forward RIS, without any additional adjuncts, and extremely well done. Commendations offered for offering such a true to style beer. No off flavors, not too bitter, no souring elements, just a very good example of the style.
