Hand-carried from Korsakov to Moscow (thanks, Nicole!), this 1.5 liter plastic bottle has a red and gold label featuring a sailing ship. Rice is an ingredient. Good for ten days after filling, the label says it was filled on 8/12/05. I opened it on 8/17/05.

I think it was a bit off. Poured a clear copper hue under a few big bubbles - not even enough foam, on a hard pour, to cover the surface of the liquid in a standard pint glass. The smell was candy sweet, with a touch of grain. The mouth was very prickly and slightly sticky. The taste was sour cherry, slightly diluted by bready malt. No notable hops until well into the finish, and not much then, either, kind of like a shadow of bitterness. I'd guess that this stuff is better when it is very fresh.
