A 375ml bottle, 2020 vintage, packaged in May 2020, with a best before date of May 2025. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.

Appearance: A hazy deep red colour with a one finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly to a thin cap, while leaving some lacing.

Aroma: Sweet and lightly tart cherries, sweet apple, oak, with some light funky notes.

Taste: Sweet cherries, with some tart and sour notes, oak, funky, leather, and a touch of bandaid.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Wildflower continues to impress me, and this wild ale was no different. Enjoyable and easy to drink.

Packaged 22/3/18.

It pours a murky dark red with a sort of pinkish head of foam.

I smell sour cherries, wheat with a bit of a funky character.

The cherry tartness is a thing of beauty. Tart without being overly so. Notes of wheat with oak and light wood grace my palate with every sip. Some Kriek brewers could learn a thing or two from Wildflower.

Lower end of medium bodied, carbonation is fairly lively but that pleases me.

Another super delicious beer from a very impressive brewery.

just my second beer from these guys, but i was super impressed with both of them. this one is a wild ale done in oak with cherries, a wild amber ale as its base, and a whole gob of cherries in it obviously. the color is deep crimson, and the fruit really leads the way in the nose, tart like pie cherries, with some sweetness more from the malts than from the fruit, fermented down to near dry, with red wine, cranberry, and red currant tang and piquancy. like the other beer i had from them recently, i am immediately impressed with the fermentation profile, they must have some different brett types floating around in australia, as this has a really cool mature funk, but its pretty unique to my palate. good tartness too but not overly sour, leaving the cherries in tact. the flavor is the beer is great, maybe not quite as complex as the sauc blanc wild beer i had from them, but with a gorgeous fruit character all the way through it, enough grain for it to taste and feel like beer, and there is an earthiness to it that really is nice here. funky and sour alike, both well developed and mature, woody but also bright, and well carbonated. they did an awesome job with this, its super cherry driven, but there is a lot else to like about this. a different sort of kriek type, i really dig it and hope to be able to score some more beers from these guys! keep a lookout for their stuff, itll be famous soon!
