$12 AUD for a pour (looks like 275ml?) from a bottle at the brewery.
Dark grape juice red. Minimal head.
Powdery on the palate. Rich bright cherry notes, lactic twang, wine-like acetic acid and subdued tannins, tart stonefruit, a hint of woodsy sugar, bacterial intricacy.
Bloody incredible, with gorgeous balance, sufficient complexity, and plenty of bacterial life. More oaky flavours and still more bacterial intricacy, tartness, twang, and microflora would help bring it to the next level, but this is already a near top tier sour that can run with the big dogs in terms of sour ales from Belgium, Switzerland, Scandinavia, and the U.S.A.
A must-try when in Sydney and for my money one of the best Australian beers brewed.
B+ / VERY GOOD
