Clear brown in the huge de Ranke tulip. Big foam at first but a nice head that lasts well. Aroma of roast barley and fruit.
Licorice flavor is surprisingly strong at first sip. Dark roasted malt with a sweet candy taste. The yeasty flavor eventually takes over. Very dry finish with the usual bitterness. Strong, richly flavored, with dark flavors of burnt raisins.
On tap at Le Chapitre in Namur, Belgium. Notes from 10/16/2012.

Unfiltered 'oerbier' from Netherlands. Quite strong at 9.5%abv.
BB dec 2011
Colour dark golden, thin head, very little carbonation in a clear ale.
Smell malty and yeasty, at first, but slow scent of citrus (appearantly hallertau hop) comes in.
Taste is malty and yeast. It's strong alcoholic too. It makes for a very 1 dimensional experience.
Sweet and strong. Very much like a barleywine.
Overall, this beer maybe has potential. I may have had a sample that should have been fresher. A bit more carbonation would do wonders, i believe.
