The Kolos brewery makes some quite good products, and the best place to consume them is at the "Stakanchik" right on the brewery grounds. Ledyanoy Stakanchik translates as "little ice glass". Nevertheless, they know how to serve a good beer.
The restaurant/bar is currently under renovation, so this description of what it used to be like may well be outdated soon. They have two rooms, one with a pretty nice bar, ten stools and six tables. The bar is on an elevated platform that makes those sitting there feel like they are on stage. The other room has eight tables that could seat about 30.
Kolos produces four varieties of beer, all of which are on tap in the restaurant. They range from pale to dark, with nothing particularly adventurous. They are served well and are quite tasty. The food was pretty good for standard Russian fare, and the service was attentive and helpful. As the only brewery in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, they have a pretty captive audience. Still, they offer good beer in a nice place. It's worth finding.
