Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – the beer pours a rather hazy orange-yellow color with a huge puffy head of white foam. The head has a great level of retention, fading very slowly over time and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a is a mix of tropical fruits and pine hop predominantly, with the tropical being heavier in tangerine and mango. Along with these other citrus aromas are there as well, with notes of lemon and lime and a decent showing of grapefruit hop. A light biscuit and oat are there as well rounding out the smell rather nicely.
Taste – The taste starts with a biscuit and oat cracker malt base mixed with some of the citrus that was in the nose. The grapefruit hop is the strongest of the citrus, but the tangerine and lime are there as well. While lesser than the grapefruit hop, there is also a pine and herbal hop presence as well, with the latter getting a bit more intense as the taste moves forward on the tongue. At the end the sweet fades a touch and with a hint of lemon, one is left with a somewhat drier (at least for a NEIPA) taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and chewiness for a NEIPA with a light and delicate carbonation.
Overall – A pretty nice NEIPA. Certainly not a juice bomb like many. Rather enjoyable.
