The word "osoboye" means special, particular or unusual. Unfortunately, I found little in this beer that would fit that description. Standard brown half liter bottle with a green and gold label featuring a bearded man with his arms crossed - NOT holding a beer mug! Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 6/3/04, I opened it on 3/30/04.
Pours a clear but very bubbly pale yellow gold under a 1.5 finger white head that manages to stick around a while despite its watery consistency. No lace. The nose is metallic, from the hops. It's quite crisp, which is a nicer way to say harsh. The mouth is prickly and medium-bodied. The taste starts with some grainy malt, which quickly yields to a tinny metallic hops impression. The close is acidic bitter, which lingers as an almost grapefruit-like sour bitter at the back of the throat. Not bad, but definitely nothing "osoboye."
