500 ml bottle into a snifter. The 2024 edition, which had some issues, had 12/6/24. This was a replacement bottle- the first one was not good.
Pours a dark brown, opaque, with no head or lacing, but with a few floaters. Aromas of mead, coconut, roasted malt, some bourbon, some chocolate and pecan, light oak. Flavors of mead, chocolate, malt, some coconut, light bourbon and oak, light pecan, a little vanilla. There’s a bit of tartness. Mostly smooth, a good fuller body, appropriately carbonated.
The aroma is terrific, can pick up all but the marshmallow/vanilla. The flavors are more faint and muddled, and with the light tartness it seems like this bottle was also on the verge of turning. The mead barrels have a strong presence. Points off the overall, for having two bottles with issues.
