Quite dark brown but with faint red hues under a persistently fuzzy tan head.
Damn, that is whiskey forward for sure. Peppery, splintery, even ashy, while also maintaining a sweet caramelly toffee malt presence without going overboard, all balanced by a little rooty bitterness.
