From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This excellent brew pours a dark
ruby tinged mahogany with a very nice head of khaki foam that settles
to a thick ring, fat layer, and sports some excellent lacing. Nose of brown sugars,
dark breaded malts, and subtle orchard fruit nuances of peach. Flavors hit the
mark with dark breaded malts, peach nuances, raisin, brown sugars, and toffee.
Mouth feel is medium, medium light carbonation, smooth, and finishing
subtly dry.
Overall, a stellar doppel done right in Cincy!
Cheers

6-pack from the brewery
Beautiful dense head with good retention.
Clear brown appearance with a ruby hue.
Malt forward with a nice caramel sweetness and alcohol punch.
Enjoyed it!

Served in a snifter on tap at the brewery.
Look: Ruby brown, very small head that reduced to a small foam cap and left moderate fine-bubbled lacing.
Nose: Not getting a lot — a little malt, a little toffee.
Mouthfeel: Thicker than I expected! And adequate carbonation.
Attack: Follows the nose closely: malt and a little toffee.
Finish: Alcohol very evident, with just enough bitterness to balance, but then an astringent aftertaste I really don’t like — it’s really the only downside of this otherwise nice brew, but it’s significant enough that it’s kicking down my numerical on the taste.
Overall: I liked this beer a lot until the aftertaste. I’m not knowledgeable enough about brewing to suggest how to eliminate the astringency there, but it would improve the beer immensely.
