Where brewers will find inspiration anywhere for their next beer flavor, including Italian restaurants. But no, its not a spaghetti and meatball beer, but Sonder's Otto is modeled after the always popular tiramisu dessert.

Pouring expectedly dark brown, the Otto imperial stout carries a dainty froth with a nose of soft roast, toast, nuttiness and coffee. As hints of vanilla and light pastry abound, the taste exudes malty rich flavors of shortcake, dark chocolate, caramel and honey before trending coffee-like on the middle palate. Robust yet soft, the stout also shares complementary flavors of nuttiness, light smoke and soft char.

Finishing sweet but not overly heavy, the stout is a near perfect blend of imperial stout and tiramisu flavors for a session that's the best of craft beer and Italian cuisine worlds.

Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts, any time of the year. I was drawn to this double tiramisu stout from Sonder when I was down in Cincinnati. The coffee isn’t overpowering and the flavors are all together pretty mild. It is a great beer for any type of stout drinker since it isn’t so much in your face.

12 ounce can, looks like it says canned on 12.05.19, thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like espresso, cocoa, cream and burnt/charred malt. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some vanilla, earthy and dark fruit flavors. Nice balance between the sweet and roasty flavors. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's creamy and easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good imperial stout, this is the first Sonder brew I've tried and hopefully I'll get the chance to have more!

Imperial Tiramisu stout brewed with Madagascar vanilla beans. Poured from a can into a Wicked Weed tulip. The pour is very dark (black). Very little light getting through. It sports about a finger of very fine tan foam. Good retention. On the nose I get some roasted malt, espresso, cocoa, vanilla, and toffee.

Full body with a creamy feel. Up front it follows the nose quite well. I get toffee, roast, and unsweetened cocoa. At mid-palate, a wonderfully elusive flavor of milk chocolate comes in, adding richness to the flavor and even more creaminess to the mouthfeel. The beer is not as sweet as I thought it might be, but is extremely well-balanced. It doesn't show its high ABV on the palate. It is extremely drinkable. On the finish, I get a faint alcohol trace which simply adds more richness as well as some cocoa and a hint of sarsaparilla.

Excellent beer. Not a vanilla bomb or one of those "dessert in a can" beers. Just a pleasant sipper with lots of great cocoa and toffee flavors. Plus, at $11 a four-pack it represents very good value.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This most excellent stout from a new
to me brewery in the area pours a rich blackish brown with a nice head
of tan foam that settles to a thick ring, nice light thin layer, and shows
some very nice sudsy lacing. Nose of chocolate, coffee, char, and deep
roasted goodness. Flavors follow but expand on the nose with chocolate
and dark roasted coffee dancing amongst char and subtle cream notes
with dark berry and dark malts. Excellent mouth feel; full body, smooth,
rich, lightly creamy, lightly slick, and a lightly sweet finish.

An excellent brew....fantastic crafting and all around excellent
work! The equal of the sum of it's parts!

Enter this one in some contests and be surprised!

Cheers!
