Appearance: On draft not terribly far from the brewery. Used motor oil color with a good centimeter of soft tan foam. Looks like a mug of root beer. Surprisingly decent head retention and great lacing.
Aroma and Taste: Good notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. A little bit of cream. Lightly toasted bread. Smooth malt that slyly transforms into a more notable malt sweetness as the beer gets closer to room temperature. A little bit of spice, like a tiny dash of nutmeg or cinnamon. Nose and tongue remained consistent with each other.
Feel: Medium-light body with a perfect amount of carbonation. Notable dryness. Smooth.
Overall: Really good clean beer that sticks to the style. Excellent complexity. Nicely done.
Pairing: The onion ring and BBQ sauce sweetness of a Texas-style burger didn't jive perfectly with the roasted malt sweetness of the beer, but it wasn't bad either. I preferred to sip it by itself.

From the pint can, it pours a clear stygian black with a nicelight brown head that slowly reduces. The nose gets black malts and coffee, followed by the mouth getting the same. Mild blackened aftertaste that lingers.

Pours a dark brown with tan head. Terrific head retention. Dark chocolate and blonde roast coffee on the nose. This is exactly how a schwarzbier should taste like. It's got light amount of coffee, some dutch bakers chocolate, some dark hot chocolate powder, while being overall dry, roasty, and drinkable. A lot of people want big stouts as colder temps approach. I want the roast and warming chocolatey character without the heavy abv that usually comes with those types of beers. I want this.
