A: Pours an opaque black, in the glass it is obsidian with a small dark chocolate head. This beer is a like a black hole, no light is going to escape it.
S: Smells thick and sweet with vanilla, oak, and whiskey.
T: Sweet and roasty with vanilla overtones, a bit of oak, and whisky rounding out the finish. Mellow, smooth, and sweet. In the finish there is a bit of a bite, perhaps earthy, or dark chocolate. The alcohol in this is very well hidden, and as it warms you get a little more malt, and some extra chocolate.
M: Thick and creamy, the carbonation is low, perhaps just a touch too low for me but that's nitpicking, the finish is slick and coating.
O: This beer checks off a lot of the qualities I look for in am imperial stout. Classic flavors, and feel, with enough of a difference to set it apart. The barrel aging is noticeable without being overpowering, and rounds out the malt dominated flavor. A sipper for sure, but a pretty good one.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a coal black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing to speak of.
S: A very nice aroma of dark fruit, bourbon, dark chocolate, and malt.
T: Tasted of a good amount of bourbon (and its accompanying barrel), a bit of malt (present throughout, though subtle), a good shot of dark chocolate (always a good thing), and some dark fruit thrown in as well (plums, raisins). This is a rich, well-rounded flavor. It has just the right amount of booze and chocolate. Pretty tasty.
F: A fair amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: A solidly made, easy to like stout. Drinkable.
