i never had any idea there was a brewery out here, tucked way back into a weird little plaza that is so busy you could see everything but the brewery, especially at rush hour, but i got lucky and was able to check it out last night. they have a cool nautical or naval theme or something in here, white and blue colors, new england coastal vibe with wood tiles on the wall where the logo is embedded, lots of windows and whitewashed character, and even a captains wheel in the bar. its fun and neat and tidy, cape cod fancy and with a similar aesthetic, who would know we are in colorado from inside this place?! they have a cool concept too, bringing along some homebrewers to do some batches, and they have a ton of tap handles, like 40 of them, covering all the bases, including local guest taps and gluten free crafts and such. i love the small batch sizes and the beer diversity, but not a one of them had a name. the french saison is called french saison, likewise for the weizenbock, the kolsch, and all the rest of the, which is always a turnoff for me, have a little pizzazz! that said, the beers i had were cool, the french saison with a surprisingly interesting yeast complexion, and the kolsch clean and crisp. smoked beer was heavenly, the best of the lot, and they had enough on tap to bring me back. i liked the look a lot, the feel is classy but mellow, and the patio looks great when the weather finally cooperates. the amount of beers and the idea of including local amateurs in the process is really cool, and ill be back for sure. nice service too, folks are informed, proud, and friendly. a real undiscovered gem here...
