A local liquor store had bottles of this on sale so I picked one up to give it a try, poured into my Gulden Draak tulip.

The beer is a reddish brown colour with a small head that quickly disappears, even with a fairly aggressive pour.
The smell is very faint, I almost have to dive into the glass to smell anything. What I smell then is malt, some caramel and some hints of fruit
The taste is similar and very sweet, almost no bitterness and plenty of alcohol and just like the smell the taste is just not that strong.
Despite the disappointing head, there's still enough carbonation in the beer and it's a fairly smooth drink.

All in all this is an ok beer, not good and not bad either. But with so many readily available and excellent alternatives for this style this is just not a beer that's worth buying again.

Blauwe bijl: 'Blue axe'.Bought at a local liquor store.

Reddish brown colour, disappointing head, but ok carbonation.
Smell is caramel, candy burned sugar, some dark fruitnotes, a bit of spice.
Taste is similar, with a big alcohol burn. Malts and yeast like a belgian ale, but mainly sweet from sugar and alcohol.

Warming alcohol, and more alcohol. It's a winterwarmer, I would say.
In all seriousness, it's not a big winner.
To me this is not a real good representation of this style of beer.

A brown, reddish beer with a thin head.

Smell is malty and has a strong fruity yeast profile. The malts add a rich, ovamaltine character.

Taste is rich and malty. Notes of fruity yeast, which appear like cherries and maybe a little ginger. The label says it has wheat in it, and this can be tasted as a grainy, 'round' taste. It also contriutes to a smooth mouthfeel. This beer is probably an allmalt beer, which makes the beer quite syrupy and sweet. Bitterness is low and aftertaste is fruity and sweet.
