Reviewed from notes taken in Summer 2012 at a bar in Amsterdam:
APPEARANCE: 2.5 fingers worth of head. Slightly creamy. Of fair thickness. Good retention.
Body colour is a dark copper.
AROMA: I detect amber malts, unexpectedly. Generic floral hops. 2-row barley. Belgian pale malt.
Very light in terms of aromatic intensity; it's difficult to pick out any individual notes beyond what I've found above.
TASTE: Amber malts. Mild floral hop flvour. 2-row barley. Belgian pale malt sweetness. Simplistic and poorly built, but balanced.
The pleasant finish is nice, and is accentuated by some creaminess from the mouthfeel.
TEXTURE: Too smooth and wet, feeling slick on the palate and reducing this beer's duration of flavour. Creamy on the finish as abovementioned.
Complements the taste decently but fails to elevate the beer as a whole.
OVERALL: Easy to drink, but priced high for its low quality (not that price has any effect on my ratings).
I'd like to revisit this in finer grain in a less crowded environment, but my impression based on this glass is it's pretty bad.
D+ (2.40) / NOT RECOMMENDED

Colour murky brown, thin but nice head, good lacing in my chimay glass.
Smell is pretty nice. malts roasted malts, dried fruits, also some chocolate and vanilla in the aroma. It's all gone very quickly though, and in the taste there's mostly just some syrup, caramel, malts. There is a bit of spicy hops.
It's ok.

I had this beer in my favorite pub, the vlaamsche reus in wageningen, where it is the selected beer of the month. This beer is brewed in honor of the first and only Dutch Pope Adrianus VI, born in Utrecht in 1459.So let's see if the taste is as holey as the story suggests.
Poured into an original de Leckere glass. The beer pours a cloudy amber-orange color, with a white head.
Smell: not too special; malts, some faint spicy and flowery hops and alcohol
Taste: Sweet caramel malts in front with some light fruits (orange zest, and something slightly sour, cherrie??), spicy hops in the middle with a very short bitter hoppy after taste.
Mouthfeel: medium carbonation and a bit thin-bodied.
Overall: The holey spirit is not inside this beer. Watery beer, with a short taste that disappears soon. Nice to try once, not more
