Comes in a green half liter bottle with an interesting label. On top of the word Bratva (which means "buddy" or "bro") is a Sherlock Holmes style cap. Under the name of the beer (chisto svetloye means "purely pale") is, in English, "Two Beer or Not Two Beer...". Under that is a loose Russian translation that I would translate back into English as "Two beers or a case right away..." Rice is an ingredient. Best before date is 10/25/03, I opened it on 7/29/03.
Poured a very pale yellow with lots of bubbles and a thin fizzy head that dissipated very quickly. No lace, not much of a collar. The nose is malty, ricey and soda-pop sweet. The mouth is semi-carbonated, with just a touch of the rusty metallic so common in Russian beers. The taste was all hops from the start, with just a bit of malt and grain peeking through occasionally. The bitterness was strong, but not harsh, leaving a nice bite in the aftertaste. I'd happily have another.
