On-draught @ the brewery. $8 AUD per pot (285ml). Earl Grey amber ale. 6.8% ABV.
Lovely. The tea bitterness plays wonderfully against the amber malt sweetness, and they don't shy away from committing to the Earl Grey tea flavour profile. Vanilla bean, earthy tea roast, faint herbs. I'm not sure what the hop profile is, but I think I'm getting herbal flavour from the hops as well as the tea?
A well balanced if simple ale that hides its highish ABV well and is quite drinkable.
Call me crazy, but I've had a dozen or so Earl Grey beers across different breweries, countries, and continents, and regardless of style they always seem to just work.
