Vienna and Munich malt gives this beer it's bright copper colour, rich toastiness, aroma and a bit of sweetness and spice. This beer is meant to be drank by the Litre till you are nice and Hosen.

Pours a lovely copper amber, dark even for a true Märzen, quite pretty, except the head dissipated almost instantly. Hmm. I thought that might be down to a dirty glass but as I drank I realised the carbonation was so gentle the head could not be revived even by swirling it around in the glass. Anyway, the smell is quite good, if a bit weak: caramel malt and toasted bread, appropriate for the style. The taste basically follows, with sweet caramel and a decent malty toast finish. Unfortunately hops character is undetectable. On the other hand, the weak carbonation does let it slip down easily. The alcohol is slightly noticeable, but unobtrusive. Overall another decent craft imitation of the "Festbier/Märzen" style, and the third I've tried this year with a decent malt profile, but sorely lacking hops character. Not that I'm clamoring for American "IPA"-style hoppiness, but a touch of spice or bitter would balance out the malt and make the flavour more complex and interesting. But as it is, this one is drinkable, and there's nothing off-putting or gross about it.
