Several drafts tonight, very drinkable. Appears black with mahoghany highlights around the edges. Plenty of visible tan lacing, good retention. Mild roast, tobacco, and coffee notes.
Flavor is dry, very mild bitterness, easygoing roasted barley & chocolate malt manifesting as tobacco, coffee traces, and bakers chocolate. Very smooth and light bodied. Several drafts were an easy pairing with food. A nice stout from this brewery.
Cheers to J&A for serving a keg of this at their wedding reception... here's to you guys!

Since having my first Oatmeal Stout (Samuel Smith), I've really started to like this style of beer. Bent River didn't let me down with their Oatmeal Stout. It looks delicious, very dark. It has some great flavor. I was surprised by the bit of coffee flavor that seems to linger as well. Overall, it's a great beer.

Drank at Patrick's in Clinton, Iowa.
Pours a very nice dark ruby. Good head, but very translucent.
Smells like very dry, roasted malt and even dryer oatmeal grain. No hop presence, but the bitter malts more than make up for it.
Tastes very much like it smells. My notes have the word "DRY" written all in caps and underlined. Slightly sweet upfront, moving into and finishing with intenesly dry and farily bitter oatmeal. Nice and rough.
A slightly above average brewpub stout. Well worth a try.
