Pours a deep dark brown color with two fingers of beige head. The nose has roasted notes accompanied by the essence of coffee. The flavor is far more mild than the nose indicates - mild roast with a faint hint of chocolate.

pours black with big sandy head that quickly disappeared. Little lacing,
Roastiness in the nose. A bit of vanilla, a bit of coffee. Nothing overpowering.
Taste is toasty maltiness. Vanilla and sourness, and light backbone. Sweet malt sticks past the quick finish. Some milk dud qualities. Not a ton of depth, and yet lack smoothness.
Stout in need of more something. Starting with density as it feels like a light beer.

“Stout Season continues “ printed on the bottom of the can dated 10.16 and opened 2.21.21
Deep dark cola brown liquid with numerous active streams of microcarbonation. Frothy light brown foam cap , good retention, settles to a pencil thick layer with sticky lacings after five minutes
Aroma is coffee , cocoa nibs, roast malts
Taste is light coffee, vanilla ,cocoa
Mouthfeel is light for a stout , very sudsy , creamy, smooth coffee taste with none of the acrid bitterness , I understand the thought process on this so as to not make it as a heavy , syrupy thick rich stout. It is flavorful but the mouthfeel is different for the style
Good beer

STOUT SEASON CONTINUES 10/16/20 stamped on bottom of can. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Black with brown edges and 1-2 fingers of dark beige head with good retention and scattered streamers of lacing.
S: Aroma is subdued overall with dark malt and roast character melded with a medium roast coffee note and lighter fudge caramel sweet aromas in the background.
T: Flavor is roastier than I was expecting with the coffee very much buried, mainly in the aftertaste. The mid-palate is more dark chocolate and dark roasted malt flavors. Low bitterness and not much for yeast character.
M: Soft feel overall but comes off a bit thin - I would love it if they would try a version at 6.5% to give it a bit more heft. I know they are trying to prop up the feel with lactose but I still think it needs a bigger body all-around to carry everything flavor wise a bit more forcefully.
O: A good beer that with a few tweaks could become a great beer as all the aroma and flavor components are there, they just need a bit more force with body and heft to do it.

Coming in at a svelte 5% abv, this stout is conditioned on coffee, vanilla, and cacao nibs with lactose. The coffee revealed itself more and more as it warmed while the first few sips tasted like melted chocolate/vanilla swirl soft serve. A nice dry finish added to the drinkability with a much bigger body than I anticipated. Well done.
