Brewed in conjunction with Pink Boots Society, Vitamin Sea wades out into the deep end of IPA for this imperial strength, hazy IPA.
Mermaid Wear Boots kicks off with a golden orange, bright but hazy appearance, Nearly opaque, the beer floats a creamy eggshell cap before enticing the nose with a perfume of ruby red citrus, tantalizing tropical fruit and a hint of stone fruit. Sweeter in its early impressions, its malt influence of toasted cereal, honey and faint caramel come with a light doughy texture.
Full flavored and rounded with an abundance of mango, pineapple, red grapefruit and blood orange, the juicy and robust fruitiness leads to a balanced middle palate. A rise of herbal attributes of sun tea, spruce, lemon peel and cedar gives an offset to both the fruity hop impressions and the lingering cereal sweetness.
Full bodied and trending dry, the beer's balance eventually falls on the sharper side of bitter-sweet and with a linger of peppery pine, tea leaf and hemp, and with an acute gin-like alcohol botanical bite.
