Celebrating the smoother, softer, more floral side of the seasons, spring has sprung at Vitamin Sea Brewing.
Kicking off with a creamy light golden appearance, the Galaxy, Cascade and Columbus fueled Spring IPA, an herbal, fruity and floral ale that's crowning with a frothy ivory cap. As its scents of tropical fruit, citrus and herb carries a citronella, cannabis and tea-like scent across the nose, the early flavors of dry cereal, honeysuckle and vanilla wafer give gentle hints of malt and grain with the beer's early flavor impressions.
The tide turns to the hops as the hazy ale splashes the middle palate and washes away much of the creamy sweetness and leaving behind a billowing fruity hop profile. Pink grapefruit, ripe oranges and suggestions of lime come to mind as the citrusy component hits first. Then comes a more tropical influence of passionfruit, papaya, gooseberry and white wine ahead of a late turn to bitterness that shifts the flavors once again toward lemongrass, green tea, fresh spruce and verbena.
Medium bodied, crisp and relatively clean for hazier ale, the IPA finishes on the herbal and bitter side of bittersweet with a linger of herbal hemp and citrus peel deep into its taste.
