Brown-purple color and very cloudy, almost muddy. Modest, small bubble spots for the lace. Only rim bubbles for the head.

It smells like maple syrup and little else. Perhaps there’s some darker toasted malt but it’s hard to tell for sure. Just think super sweet.

Highly carbonated but with a rich body. This is super sweet—very much a dessert beer. Again, maple syrup is strongest but I do pick up some sweetened blueberry. Gooey finish of maple sugar. Shorter aftertaste.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy purple-reddish color with a big head of fizzy light purple tinted foam. The head fades rather fast leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew very strong of a blueberry pancake aroma. It really does smell like a blueberry pancake with lots of maple syrup!! Along with these aromas comes notes of a sourness, with smells of sour green apple and a bit of tart cherry. At the same time there is a grainy and wheaty smell, as well as a bit of vanilla, overall, producing a sour blueberry grain pancake smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a moderately sweet but tart blueberry and wheaty taste. Upfront there is also some sour green apple cider vinegar and a bit of lemon. As the taste advances the sour tastes dwindle a bit all while the blueberry gets stronger. At the same time a doughy pancake flavor comes to the tongue and is accompanied by flavors of maple syrup and some nut. These flavors become most intense in the middle of the taste, where the pancake maximizes. Grainy flavors amp up at the end, while the pancake lessens a bit, and with the rest of the flavor transitions, it leaves one with a lightly tart blueberry and slightly pancake like, bready taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is rather light to medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average to slightly lower. For the mix of fruit, but doughy pancake the middle of the road nature of the carbonation and thickness is rather nice and accommodates both flavors rather well.
Overall – An interesting brew overall with a nice lightly sour blueberry pancake flavor.

Dark cranberry red with violet hints in the smoothie body, magenta tinted heat. Huge tart and sweet blueberry with maple and faint hints of spiced bread make up the nose. Wow is the taste sweet, woah. Sugar bomb blueberry maple the whole way, overwhelms the palate. Feel is sugary, sour, decently think yet frothy by the finish. Just too sweet for me

It tastes like pancakes, but I don’t want my beer to taste like breakfast!

L - Purple color. Hazy.

S - Maple is dominate, but blueberries are here to stay as well

T - Again, maple is first and foremost with blueberries in a supporting role

F - Noticeable sticky and the flavors linger

O - Maple syrup in a sour? Who would have thought it would work?

Pours a deep shade of royal purple, with a slightly lighter violet head of foam. Production is excellent; while it at first seems to have good retention, once it starts collapsing it goes quickly, shrinking to almost nothing.

Wonderful nose! At first, from a distance, my impression was: "This beer smells like beer!" as in a clean lager. Up close, that rapidly changed, as a wonderful wave of maple syrup wafted over me. It's not cloying or overly sweet, just very pleasant. Not much sense of blueberry on the nose, but there is a slight fruity sharpness.

Similar on the palate. "Fruit and field beer" is more appropriate than sour, but even then, the fruit doesn't stand out all that much. It's almost easier to describe what this beer is not, than what it is: there's a slight tartness, but it's not a sour ale; there's a bit of blueberry and light fruity tartness, but it's not bursting with blueberry flavors; there's a solid malt base (especially for 6% ABV), but it doesn't scream "pancakes!" at me; and the maple syrup, the dominant tone on the palate and the nose, isn't so sweet that this turns into a pastry beer - although it does verge on dessert beer.

Smooth and easy to drink; low but balanced bitterness; punches well above its weight.

This was an absolute joy!
