A bit of foam emerges from the can when opened but only creates a one-finger (dense) head. The liquid allows no light to pass—a deep dark brown. Sticky blanketing lace on the far end of the glass.
Mostly semisweet chocolate with some chalkiness. I pick up some light cocoa smells as well.
Dryer than the smell indicates, almost like Baker’s Chocolate. The body is above the Irish versions but not as rich as a Milk Stout. Decent carbonation. The finish is bitter with what I perceive as equal parts hop and black patent malt. The aftertaste, though, is surprisingly short.
