Doppel, meaning double, is a stronger version of a German bock beer. It was first brewed by the Paulaner Monks 375 years ago to nourish them during fasting. They called theirs Salvator, meaning savior, and many imitations carry the "-ator" in their names. With ours, you can expect a strong, dark garnet-colored beer with the flavor of alcohol, raisin, chocolate and dark toast. This version has been aged in a Whiskey Acres bourbon barrel for 11 months adding hints of wood and bourbon, along with a little cherry.
