Received from @r0rschach post NBS BIF 10 – Thanks John! Reviewed 2/21/20.
Undated 16 oz can. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 45 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Pink, hazy.
Body – Vermillion, opaque. When held to direct light, ruby but still opaque.
Head – Small (Maximum 1.8 cm, aggressive center pour), pink, high density, average retention, diminishing to a two to four mm crown and a thin complete cap. Heavy effervescence, constantly supplementing the crown.
Lacing – Good! Narrow bands of nearly microscopic pink bubbles.
Aroma – 3 – Weak, a bit fruity.
Flavor – 3.5 – Kind of generic berry juice, slightly acidic and slightly sour. No alcohol (5 % ABV as marked on the label.) No diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, watery, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated container) A decent Berliner weisse. I can’t detect any vanilla and I don’t know what black currents (Or any currants, for that matter) normally taste like, so other than a bit of generic berry-ness, this tastes like a Berliner weisse should.
