Given the label description was expecting something a bit more hazy. This is less like a NE IPA and more of a west coast combined with a bit of what almost seems like a small bit of vanilla stout. Very little bitterness and a bit of an 'ash' taste once the palate is reached. That may not be a bad thing though its not really my style in a double. Overall its very drinkable and more sweet than bitter. the AVB is relatively high though not noticeable so its a good beer at a decent price to get a quick buzz on.
