Underrated beer here, and I believe it's because it toes the line between a hazy and a more traditional DIPA. It's not as fluffy, cloudy, and hazy as most on the pour or the feel. But the hops are there in spades with excellent mango dominant flavors with some tart citrus fruits intermingling. It's plenty resinous and dank (mine was canned 6 months ago as well) with perfect scores in carbonation and drinkability. I'm already looking forward to my next one from the 4 pack. Don't sleep on Logyard Brewing, they know what they're doing

On tap at Skunk & Goat Tavern in North East, PA. Holding onto vacation! Hazy orange. A bit strong on the bitterness, but enjoyable.

Pours a hazy pale straw with a finger of head. The nose has some mild citrus essence, but that's a bout it. The flavor is very sweet with Juicy Fruit gum being the most prominent note. The mouthfeel is resiny.

19.2 oz can from market. Cloudy golden pour, light frothy white head. Fruity aroma, citrusy notes, zesty. Taste is juicy, fruity, grapefruit, really smooth.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a hazy orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, little else. Taste is citrus, some malts, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Logyard Brewing "Misery Whip"
16 fl. oz. can, seemingly without production codes or freshness dating
$19.99/12 pk. Forest Hop variety case @ Javie's Beverage, Phila., PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a hazy double IPA at 8.4% ABV. It's poured a murky golden body beneath a massive head of slightly off-white foam. The aroma is bright and citrusy, and I'm immediately thinking of Citra hops. It has that slight edge of resin to it, and a little bit of other-than-citrusy tropical fruit. On to the taste... there's more to it but I can't pinpoint it. It could be some Huell Melon hops, or perhaps even real fruit although there's nothing listed on the label. It's like mango, melon, and peach at times - very nice! The malt is sweetish and oaty with a floral note but there's also a richer grainy note than you usually find. I doubt that this is 2-row and oats, nor do I think it's Pilsner. It seems like Briess Pale Ale malt to me but what do I know. Just to note, I also don't find any wheat but that might be what's swaying me. Regardless, it's got some umph to it which is nice. I'm just burned out on the oh-so-common 2-row, wheat, and oats that makes up so many NEIPAs that anything different really catches my attention. HOWEVER, I should also point out that this is a double IPA so it should be more malty and maybe I'm just losing my mind. Having said that I'm also reminded that a lot of double IPAs seem lacking in aroma because the hops are competing with malt but that's not the case here. How strong is this again? It's 8.4% so that's significant but it doesn't seem like it. I'll have to be careful with these as if I hadn't been writing a review for this I could have very easily drank my first one in about 15 minutes and gone for another one or two while cooking dinner. What else did I just think of and now I can't recall? Oh, yes, I'm now getting a little bit of a berry note from it so perhaps there's some Mosaic in the mix. It's not labeled as such but it really is like a double NEIPA as there's not a lot of bitterness to it. It still mainly dries in the end but it's sweetish along the way, and although I don't sense it the alcohol probably has something to do with that. There's also a very mild "hop burn" which is nice. In the mouth it's medium bodied but it seems fuller due to all of the extra proteins, and it's gently crisp and then pillowy smooth. That's a pillow inside of a silk pillow cover by the way. This is my fifth or sixth beer from Logyard and I have to say that they've really impressed me.

Did not care for this one, a bit to much DIPA for me and got a Belgian undertone which had me wrapping this one up qymuick, try Logs other blends which I found not great but better, especially for craft newbies.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 3/9/21, so 4 months old.
Mixed look here. Honey colored body, with a ton of white floaties. These slowly sink to the bottom. Small white head shrinks to a ring and covering, leaves excellent lacing.
Fruity aroma, citrusy, mostly orange.
On tasting, hoppiness has faded a little, but still a decent citrus orange taste. Significant warmth from the abv.
Mouth medium, finish a warm orange.
Overall, and age may be an issue here, this just seemed subdued on most levels.

Tonight, let's crack open a couple of pint cans of Misery Whip. Best reviewed when poured into a clear glass liter mug. It was that kind of day. Its quasi hazy amber is one of the more pleasant sights since this morning. A nice head didn't last long on top and there's only a little glass lacing. The smell is of a subdued standard IPA, a little malty and a little more hoppy. Neither is the taste distinctive, as it brings a nice malt backbone, but no hoppy bite. Far from being unpleasant, the taste could use some more bitterness from, say, Simcoe hops. A double IPA ideally should have close to double the attributes of an IPA. The malt is mostly here, the well hidden ABV is here, the hoppy bite, such a good closer in a DIPA is missing. That makes it disappointing, overall. Not miserable, not whip crackin'. There is a nice to see yeasty settlement at the bottom of the glass.

Canned back in mid-August and apparently hid itself in the fridge a bit too well. Take this review with a grain of salt...
Has that goopy, chalky, dandruffy look that I despise but the head is suitably creamy and sticks around for a minute. Smells... sweet. That's the only way I can describe it. Just kind of a generic candy smell. Taste is very sweet as well, not necessarily juicy as this style aims for, just (again) a generic sweetness. Like I said, though, this sample is ancient in IPA years so the hops have certainly faded. Some drop off more than others. Medium-bodied, medium carbonation, very low bitterness. Not crazy about this one, personally, but 8.4% ABV will certainly get me properly tanked.
