VIKING 1

Or so reads the bottom of the can. Not sure what the shit the viking thing is about, but I'm going to drink it anyway. I'm a rebel like that. Anyway, a good two fingers worth of frothy head takes shape over your typical dark amber marzen body. Has a slight murky haze, but you can make out some very active carbonation all the same. Head takes its time in receding, leaving some thick, sticky lace in it's wake. A pretty beer. Smells bready and malty; more malt than bread, but they're both there. No surprises on the nose, but sometimes that's a good thing. Taste is grain up front with malty sweetness bringing up the rear. Not overly sweet or caramel-esque, just, you know, malty. Very minimal bitterness; in fact, I'm not really picking up any hop at all - maybe just a mild floral aftertaste. Mouth is pretty full-bodied for a lager and very crisp if that's your jam. A rock solid marzen overall.
