Poured from 750ml bottle into pint glass in May 2022. This was bottle #462, and I drank this about 1 month after purchase.
Appearance: Very dark black with a three finger high tan/brown head. Head thins out to a thin covering, and leaves very little lacing on the glass, as is typical of imperial stouts.
Smell: Strong aromas of maple, roasted coffee, and bourbon. There is some additional sweetness like vanilla as well. Not much hop aroma.
Taste: There is some maple flavor, but not as much as I expected from the aroma. Also some coffee flavors along with bourbon. Some chocolate, smoky roasted malt flavors, and a little caramel flavor. I do not get any vanilla flavor. There is a strong alcohol presence that matches 9.5% on the label. A strong maple and whiskey aftertaste, that is really enjoyable.
Mouth-feel: Thick, but with an extremely smooth and creamy body.
This is a good barrel aged Imperial Stout, and it has a variety of flavors that adds a nice complexity to the beer. It is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. I wold buy this again.
