Logyard Brewing "Kane-Is Lupus"
16 fl. oz. can coded "TUESDAY 05/03/2022" and sampled on 05/29/2022
Notes via stream of consciousness: My guess is that this is a hoppy Belgian-style witbier but let's see. It's poured a cloudy golden body beneath a finger's width of white foam. The aroma expresses woody and spicy dried coriander seed over a wheaty malt base with some mild yeasty phenolics in the background. On to the taste... everything checks out! It's lightly sweetish, wheaty and grassy on the malt side. The Belgian yeast is giving it a touch of spicy phenolics and moderate clove that works really well with the coriander seed and then the orange brightens it a bit, mainly appearing towards the swallow. The bitterness balances and helps to dry it in the finish along with the yeasty spiciness and coriander. It's medium bodied on the fuller side and gently crisp. The head held up fairly well and it's left some nice lacing behind but there's still a lot to be desired there. All in all it's not as delicate or refined as some of the best from Europe but it pushes all the right buttons and it's not nearly as heavy handed as Blue Moon - besides, this is America, right? It's actually really nicely balanced and rounded and I've still got a half a beer here so I'm going to take it out on the back porch and enjoy it in the warm afternoon sun.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
